New Funding Round for UK Research Partnership Investments
The UK Research Partnership Investment Fund (UKRPIF) is available to UK universities to support large-scale projects that can leverage substantial co-investment from private sources building on the research excellence in the higher education sector.
The funding can be used to support the development of research infrastructure, including:
New buildings
Major refurbishment of existing facilities
The purchase of high-cost research equipment.
An intent submit must be sent by the deadline of 12pm on 4th August, 2022.
Funding to Support Long –Term Recovery from Gambling-Related Harms
The charity GambleAware has launched a new £2 million Aftercare Funding Programme which focuses on sustained, rather than immediate, recovery from gambling harms.
There are two levels of funding available:
Level 1 offers grants of up to £150,000 for smaller projects or organisations or those looking to test a new approach.
Level 2 offers grants of up to £350,000 for larger, well-established organisations to grow and develop their work further.
The deadline to apply is 12pm on 15th August, 2022.
Continuo Foundation Offering Support for Period Music Ensembles
Grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 are available for professional ensembles playing period music and instruments.
The focus of this round of funding is to support ensembles to plan and carry out a range of artistically excellent projects that will bring live period performances to communities that lack access to high-quality live music, as well to help newly formed ensembles to establish themselves.
The deadline for applications is 15th August, 2022.
Launch of £13m Fund for Public Sector Knowledge Assets
The Knowledge Assets Grant Fund is available to support the identification and development of existing public sector knowledge assets, including their repurposing, commercialisation or expanded use. These assets may include intellectual property, data, innovation, software and knowhow.
Funding is available in three bands:
Explore Grant (up to and including £25,000)
Expand Grants (£25,000 to £100,000)
Extend Grant (£100,000 to £250,000)
Projects must be led by UK public sector organisations
The deadline for the first round of submissions is 18th August, 2022.
North East and Yorkshire Energy Project Fund Invites Applications
Funding is available to businesses, community groups, charities and public sector organisations to support the delivery of local energy projects for communal or public benefit in Yorkshire and the North East.
Project proposals submitted to the £400,000 Energy Project Enabling Fund must focus on at least one of the NEY Net Zero Hub's four Strategic Priorities of renewable energy technologies, heat decarbonisation, natural carbon sequestration and circular economy.
Grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 are available, with applicants required to provide match funding of a minimum of 30% of the overall project value.
The deadline for applications is 19th August, 2022.
Government Launch £180m Fund for Brownfield Land Release
One Public Estate (OPE) has partnered with DLUHC to deliver the Brownfield Land Release Fund (BLRF), a programme that enables councils to bring forward their surplus land for new homes.
Thesecond round of the BLRF is offering up to £180 million of capital grant funding to unlock and accelerate the release of these sites.
All local authorities across England are eligible to apply.
The deadline for applications is 23.59 pm on 19th August, 2022.
New Government Grants to Tackle Homelessness and Rough Sleeping
The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has announced £10 million of funding until 2025 to address homelessness and improve Night Shelter provision.
The objectives of the Night Shelter Transformation Fund are to:
Improve the quality of off-the-street accommodation, supplementary to that which is provided through local authority commissioned services.
Help reduce the number of individuals sleeping rough or requiring emergency shelter, in close partnership with local authorities and other housing-related support services.
Make long-term sustained transformations to the provisions made by non-commissioned Night Shelter providers.
The Media Literacy Taskforce Fund will fund pilot projects that will work through communities to engage citizens in ways that are tailored to their needs and relevant to their daily lives, delivering media literacy interventions at a local level.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) expects to award a maximum of £250,000 in grant funding to individual projects this financial year.
Applications are accepted from charities and non-profit organisations, private organisations and public bodies that have expertise in media literacy initiatives.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 9am on 30th August, 2022
Through the Design Foundations Competition, Innovate UK aims to help businesses develop new ideas that will deliver benefits for people and the planet, aligned with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. These can be for new or significantly improved products, services, places or business models.
Up to £2 million has been allocated to fund innovation projects in this competition. Funding will be in the form of a grant.
The competition is open to single applicants and collaborations.
The deadline for applications to be submitted is 11am on 31st August, 2022.
Government Awarding Grants to Support Innovative Health Solutions forVeterans
The Office for Veterans' Affairs (OVA) is providing funding administered by the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) to enable innovation in clinical care for the UK veteran population.
From a total funding pot of £2.7 million, grants of up to £300,000 over up to two years are available.
The fund is open to a range of organisations undertaking work in this area, including:
Charities and non-profit organisations.
Academic organisations.
Microenterprises and medium-sized enterprises.
Large companies.
Groups must register for the DASA Online Submission Service to submit their proposals.
The deadline to apply is 12pm on 31st August, 2022.
Small and medium charities can now apply to the GSK Impact Awards for 2023.
This year, up to 10 winners will receive £40,000, with one overall winner receiving an extra £10,000. Additionally, up to five runners-up will receive £4,000.
The Awards recognise excellence in existing work and do not seek to fund new projects. Award winners can decide how they spend the money.
The deadline for Stage One applications is 5pm on 1st September, 2022.
Outdoor Learning Grants for Schools and Early Years Providers
Learning Through Landscapes is offering outdoor learning training sessions and nature equipment for nurseries, schools, and other early-learning providers to promote outdoor learning for children.
Applicants must be employed by the school or early learning provider. Applications from PTA's, Governors, or 'Friends of' groups will not be accepted.
Transformational Grants from Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust
The Covenant Fund Trust has launched a new, highly specialised fund aimed at addressing specific issues for targeted groups of people within Armed Forces communities.
Five to seven grants of up to £300,000 will be made.
Charities that have been registered for at least three years are eligible to apply.
The deadline to apply is 9am on 12th September, 2022.
The Reimagine grants programme is providing grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 from a total budget of £1.8 million. Reimagine grants have been developed in response to the unique challenges presented by Covid-19.
The grants can be used for a number of different things, including:
Cover existing staff.
Bring back furloughed staff
Hire contract or freelance support for the duration of the project.
Some equipment costs and improvements to existing buildings, sites, collections and infrastructure.
Applications can be made as a single institution, in a partnership, or with a collective.
The deadline for applications is 12th September, 2022.
Which? Fund Invites Applications for Research Funding
Which?, the UK's consumer champion, is inviting UK registered charities, universities with exempt charitable status and not-for-profit Community Interest Companies to apply for a share of the £75,000 being made available for 2022/23.
Two funding programmes are available:
Projects exploring consumer harms experienced by diverse and disadvantaged communities.
Projects exploring consumer harms experienced by diverse and disadvantaged communities in digital markets.
Applications will be accepted until 5pm on 19th September, 2022.
Defra's air quality grant scheme provides funding to eligible local authorities to help make air quality improvements and to meet their statutory duties under the Environment Act 1995.
The fund is split into two lots. Defra are looking for applications for:
Lot 1 – projects designed to reduce air pollutant exceedances especially in those areas that are projected to remain in exceedance of the UK's legal targets
Lot 2 – projects that will improve knowledge and information about air quality and steps individuals can take to reduce their exposure to air pollution and/or projects that include measures that deal with Particulate Matter.
The 2022/23 application deadline is 12pm on 23rd September, 2022.
Public Engagement Funding Available for Engineering Projects
Innovative proposals are sought to help engineers, or science and engineering communicators, promote their expertise and explore ways to provide engaging training opportunities to a wider public.
Applications are welcome from engineers, universities, science and engineering communicators, colleges and schools.
Funding of between £3,000 and £30,000 is available.
The deadline for applications is 4pm on 26th September, 2022.
New Fund to Upgrade Facilities for Creative and Cultural Research
This new Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funding opportunity focuses on developing the research and development capability of smaller specialist institutions (SSIs) to enhance their capacity to contribute to the UK's thriving creative and cultural economy.
This investment will fund three types of activity for practice-led research in eligible institutions:
Strand one: equipment upgrade or replacement
Strand two: refurbishment or upgrade of small to medium-sized facilities
Strand three: new major facilities or the repurposing of major facilities.
Applications must be submitted online by 4pm on 27th September, 2022.
The Regulators' Pioneer Fund has a total budget of £12 million available to fund projects that help businesses bring innovative products and services to market. Individual projects can apply for up to £1 million in grant funding.
The deadline for applications is 12pm on 29th September, 2022.
TechX Clean Energy Accelerator Opens for Cohort 5 Applications
The TechX Clean Energy Accelerator aims to help innovative clean energy start-ups develop their technologies and grow their business.
The programme offers an intensive 15-week full-time experience, with benefits that include expert technology and business support, mentorship, prototype development, the opportunity for field trials with some of the largest companies in the energy industry and a £100,000 grant.
Applications for cohort 5 are now open until 11pm on 9th October, 2022.
Branching Out Fund Reopens for 2022/23 Planting Season
The Tree Council is offering grants of between £200 and £2,000 for schools, community groups, charities, parish and town councils etc to support tree, hedge, and orchard planting projects.
Funding can be used to cover:
Buying trees, including fruit trees, and hedges.
Reasonable costs of non-plastic protection and supports such as canes, stakes or ties, mulch, mulching mats and peat-free compost or soil improvers.
The deadline for applications is 4th December, 2022.
The International Tree Foundation is offering grants for community groups and voluntary organisations to support community-based projects that conserve, restore, and protect indigenous trees, woodlands, and associated biodiversity.
Grants of up to £1,000 are available for smaller projects of up to one year. Larger grants are also available.
The deadline for applications is 16th December, 2022
Funding to Support Blind and Partially Sighted People
The Thomas Pocklington Trust is offering grants to registered charities to support projects and activities that deliver positive outcomes for blind and partially sighted people.
Funding can be used to cover costs such as new staff posts, professional fees, paid training, resource development, or capital items.
Most grants will be around £10,000 or less. However, larger amounts will be considered in exceptional circumstances. The programme may close early depending on demand.
The deadline for applications is 5th February, 2023.
British and Foreign School Society Launches £1m Displacement Education Fund
The British and Foreign School Society's (BFSS) new £1 million Displacement Education Fund has been launched to address the specific challenges that children and young people who have been displaced by conflict face in accessing quality education.
Grants are available to support UK registered charities, not-for-profit community-based organisations, schools, academies, colleges and other educational establishments with projects working with displaced children and young people both internationally and in the UK.
National Lottery Community Fund Now Offering Large Climate Grants
The next round of the 10-year, £100 million Climate Action Fund is now open for applications from projects which focus on the link between climate and nature and bring other social and economic benefits to local communities.
Applications will be considered from community-led partnerships that are made up of a mix of organisations from different sectors, either locally or UK-wide partnerships delivered across at least two UK countries.
There is an £8 million funding pot, with grants of up to £1.5 million over two to five years on offer.
Support for Training in Ecclesiastical Heritage Skills
Benefact Trust is offering grants for registered Christian charities to support the preservation of key heritage skills that are essential to the conservation of historic Christian buildings.
Funding can be used for both capital and revenue costs and is for the training of specific individuals rather than general support across a group of students.
The National Lottery Community Fund and Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) have each announced an additional £6 million of funding into their partnership programme, the #iwill Fund.
Funders interested in partnering with the #iwill fund to deliver youth action work must provide match funding on a 1:1 ratio.
