Proverbs 17 verse 22: "A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones".
We have used this verse before, and the picture we have used this time is wisdom, and we believe using the Word as good medicine is wisdom.
Where does Joy, for a joyful heart come from, firstly from responsibility of all the Gifts we have been given.
Matthew 25 verse 21: "Well done good and faithful servant". Share your master's Joy.
Responsibility may cause us trouble, in our applying it, but even through this we can obtain Joy. James 1 verse 2: "Consider it a great Joy my brother {sister} whenever you experience various trails".
Hebrews 12 verse 2; This verse is speaking about the Joy for the journey. Jesus {Our Lord and Our Friend} who is our only example, endured the cross, for He saw the Joy that would be achieved from it. He didn't have to do it, but He did it fro us, for our freedom, and after He had completed the task, He went back and sat down on His throne in heaven.
We can than understand His statement, "It is finished". His example leads us to see the Joy for the journey is focusing on the Goal, our eternal purpose with God.
Everything for our Journey has been provided for us, Galatians 5 verse 22: speaks about the fruits of The Spirit. One of the Fruits is Joy.
Our journey is in the world, but as apart of a different Kingdom, Romans 14 verse 17.
Joy is apart of our life's journey. Joy is a fruit, and if we have enough of the fruit of Joy in our lives, we can squeeze it in times of need to bring joyfulness to our heart, as a remedy or a medicine for that time of need.
I remembering singing a song, "The Joy Of The Lord Is My Strength".
The Joy Our Lord and Our Friend brings, gives us, and provides for us, is more than enough for us to be good medicine for us all, going through difficult times.
