WoMo Newsletter: Wednesday 12th October 2022

Hey WoMos

Dear WoMos

How have you been the last couple of weeks? As I write, it is World Mental Health day and you will receive this tomorrow. It seems apt to be writing on World Mental Health day when the last week or so has been incredibly challenging. Sometimes there isn't one obvious thing that means life feels more challenging. It can be an accumulation of stressors. As WoMos, we have so many. When you add kids to the work mix, then layer on dogs, travel, the economy, the pound, fuel prices and and and, it can all feel a bit much.

At Ludo, one of the missions of the company is to truly create a culture of inclusion in the workplace. Part of that is a safe environment where employees can show up as their authentic self. So I am putting my authentic foot forward! I spoke on two panels last week (both were awesome), I pitched to 2 VCs for investment, we launched our new tech at Ludo, and we are introducing our menopause module this week. Then I had a house guest, my youngest had a flare up with his asthma and I lost one of the dogs in the park. I wasn't sleeping well and overwhelm hit hard.  Today things feel MUCH better. Which goes to show it isn't permanent. And there is always a way through. I picked up the phone to a close friend, and had a lovely weekend seeing mates and doing a bit of me stuff, between rugby training for my son and buying new school trousers. A reminder that selfcare matters, and talking to a friend works wonders.

This week we're talking parenting apps. We've done the research for you to help you choose apps that you'll love and hopefully help you to avoid becoming overwhelmed. And a blog from my daughter with advice for anyone taking a gap year.  Helpful for all of you with teens in the final year of school!

Please remember to introduce us to your employer.  We want to have a chat with your Head of HR or Diversity & Inclusion lead on how to retain female talent.

Sending you all lots of love,

PS – I found the dog!
