As we already know that dengue fever is caused by virus, means it will heal on it's own (the immune system will fight off the virus). But we need to be aware when entering what it's called critical phase. The critical phase can occur 3-7 days since the fever and lasts for 24 - 48 hours. During this time, the platelet (thrombocyte) count may drop rapidly, so close observation is essential and body's fluid must be monitored.
The chart above shows my child's temperature and platelets count in the course of illness. Critical phase occurred on Oct 23th when the platelets count was lowest event though the temperature was already normal. On that day, rashes appeared in his skin, particularly on the hands and feet. The doctor said he was entering convalescent phase.
A day after that, doctor said he was no longer need medical inpatient treatment and ready for being discharged from hospital.
