OfJ had written a series on dealing with difficulties, which we are currently upgrading. Kath, OFJ wife is a qualified councilor as well, so we are fortunate that Kath is taking the time to reinvigorate this wonderful series for us. We are starting the upgraded version with Assurance, enjoy and be encouraged.
Dealing with life's difficulties – Assurance
One of the more difficult things in life is assurance. Most people, at some time doubt themselves. We may feel doubtful or concerned about making decisions; about getting the approval of others for what we do.
Self-doubt, doubting whether we are good enough to take on different tasks; and even if we do feel qualified, we wonder whether this is really what the Lord wants us to be doing.
Assurance is described as a feeling; a mental, physical and emotional response a person experiences when anxieties are put to rest, and you feel you can trust.
Romans 8 verse 31: "What then are we to say about these things? If God be for us, who is against us?"
This verse says it all. What then are we to say, about us having assurance.
1 john 5 verse 11 to 12 best explain how we can have that {assurance} of Inner peace and security.
V 11 And this is the testimony, God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son {Christ Jesus}.
v 12 This one who has the Son {Christ Jesus} has life. the one who doesn't have the Son of God {Christ Jesus} does not have life.
This is the testimony. This is what God Himself has declared as truth. These are the facts.
God has already done it. This has been irrevocably accomplished.
God has given us, Yes, He has given us eternal life through the acceptance of His Son {Christ Jesus}.
What do we do with this ASSURANCE. We hold on to it and we can confess Romans 8 verse 38 and 39.
V 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, V 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will have the power to separate us, from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 Timothy 1 verse 12 'and my faith in Him convinces me that He is more than able to keep all that I've placed in His hands' safe and secure until the fullness of His appearing"
Because I am kept in the love of our Lord and Our Friend , I can have confidence that He goes before me and makes a way. He faithfully leads me and guides me, and if I fall, He will pick me up. Goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life. I am more than a conqueror in Christ Who loves me. This is why I can have assurance each day.
To know who we are in Christ Jesus {Romans 8 verse 1}.
"What then are we to say about these things," But INDEED BLESSED ASSURANCE.
God Bless
Kath
