12/14 It is 2 a.m. we are finally home. The kids are in bed. The dog is eating and drinking. My husband is in the shower. I am pumped full of caffeine, so sleep will not come easy this morning. The roads were miserable on the way home. I drove for 5 hours and then my husband took over. We always have the best road trips. We never listen to the radio, we talk, talk about the issues of the world. That is a blessing that we never run out of things to talk about,
The rental house is getting to be a drag. The travel, the tenants, and the messes to clean.
It is 12/15 at 11:43 pm. I get a call from our tenant. " The loud pink walls are disturbing my sleep." I was just getting ready to sleep. We rented a house with a pink bedroom. We had painted the bedroom pink for tenant who had a child that loved pink. Inside, I lost my s****! I am thinking "Are you f***** seriously, I took a breath. In my social worker voice, "It is nearly midnight, room color is not an emergency. We are not repainting it and you are not repainting it. Do you understand? I will not be answering calls after 6 pm. or 8 a.m..unless it is a true emergency.
The back apartment is all white. The plan is to remove colors from the kitchen bathroom, and bedrooms in the future. I gather our tenant thinks she is going to try to drive me crazy so I break the lease. Oh, the poor dear has no idea who she is dealing with. I have several lease violations where I could evict everyone, the rental is in a landlord-friendly state. We have done evictions before and it is a hard thing to ask someone to vacate. However, tenants need to realize they are a guest on someone's property.
I get annoyed because when I was a renter, I was a model tenant. I paid on time, maintained things, and kept a clean home. We have had one nightmare tenant after another. We do background checks, and credit checks, and require references. Tenants who look good on paper often do not match up in reality.
I cannot wait for this tenant to be gone. Now, there is a cat that is not on the lease. I agreed to the two small dogs (with a heavy pet deposit). They still haven't gotten rid of the pit bull. If we need to drive up there again this week, I won't be happy, they certainly won't be happy. After I calmed down after working out in the gym, I told my husband, she could have been drunk. Normal people do not call people at nearly midnight. My husband marveled at how I am able to shut people down without yelling at them. Well, after a good workout, I am off to bed.
