£5m Fund from Ministry of Justice for Youth Sports Projects
The Youth Justice Support Fund is a new grants programme backed by the Sport for Development Coalition.
Grants of £20,000 are on offer and projects should involve sports-based activities to engage vulnerable young people at risk of offending.
Constituted voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations can apply, as can educational establishments, local authorities and leisure trusts providing the project is open to local communities and free at point of access.
The deadline to apply is 9am on 5th December, 2022.
£10m Fund Launched to Support UK Foodbanks
Julia and Hans Rausing Trust has announced a new grants programme to further the efforts of foodbanks across the UK in tackling the growing food poverty crisis.
The minimum amount which can be applied for is £500. Grants can be used to cover costs associated with all aspects of foodbank service provision including rent, staffing and storage and distribution costs.
Applications must be submitted by 4pm on 6th December, 2022.
Lloyd's of London Foundation Seeking Charity Partnerships
Registered charities can now apply to the latest grants programme from Lloyd's of London Foundation, an independent charity founded and funded by Lloyd's.
The scheme offers grants of £25,000 to £50,000.
Grants can be spent on costs associated with project delivery, with activities expected to fall into at least one of the programme's themes:
- Employability.
- Disaster avoidance and relief.
- Social mobility.
- Mental health.
- Climate.
The deadline to apply is 11.59pm on 11th December, 2022.
NPC Launches Funds for Charities Tackling Financial Hardship
New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) is providing two separate funds in the financial hardship sector, aiming to relieve and reduce financial hardship in the UK.
Organisations can apply to only one of the following funds:
- Panel A's Fund offers grants of up to £15,000 to charities and community groups. The funding has a specific focus on supporting:
- Asylum seekers
- Young people
- Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities
- Those with experience of domestic violence
- Single parent households
- Women and girls
- Panel B's Fund offer grants of between £5,000 and £25,000 to charities and community groups. The funding has a specific focus on supporting:
- Young people
- Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities
- Single parent households
- People with disabilities
- Asylum seekers and those with NRPF
There are no restrictions on how the funding can be used as long as the grants focus on financial hardship and are in response to the current cost of living crisis. Organisations can propose what they would like to do with the funding.
The deadline for all applications 5pm on 16th December 2022.
Social Action Fund for Schools
The Ormiston Trust is a grant-giving trust that primarily supports schools and organisations that provide direct assistance to children, young people and families.
The #iwill campaign is now offering open grants of up to £1000 to support schools who want to embed sustainable youth social action (YSA) at scale in their schools.
There are four main funding areas within the programme:
- Environment and Climate Justice
- Wellbeing and Mental Health
- Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
- Community-based Issues.
Applicants must be a primary or secondary school and grants of up to £1,000 are available.
The fund has a deadline of 16th December, 2022.
Resource Efficiency for Materials & Manufacturing
The aim of this Innovate UK (IUK) competition is to support UK materials and manufacturing organisations to become more resource efficient
Proposals must focus on two or more of these five core areas contributing to improvements in resource efficiency and be able to demonstrate carbon reduction:
- Materials for the future economy
- Smart design
- Resilient supply chains
- World class production
- Longer in use and reuse
Up to £1 million has been allocated to fund feasibility projects. Funding will be in the form of a grant. Each project's total costs must be between £50,000 and £100,000.
This competition is open to single applicants or collaborations.
The deadline for applications 11am on 21st December, 2022.
Future Communities Fund Now Accepting Applications
As part of its new strategy, 'Building Communities of the Future Together', Co-op Foundation has opened an unrestricted grants programme supporting youth engagement in the UK.
The Future Communities Fund offers grants of up to £30,000 per year for five years.
There are no restrictions on the grants, providing the work being carried out by organisations aligns with the priorities of equity, diversity and inclusion and youth governance.
The fund is open until 12pm on 23rd December, 2022.
Launch of £1.5m Artificial Intelligence for Decarbonisation Innovation Programme
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Decarbonisation Programme will support the development of innovative artificial intelligence technologies for decarbonisation applications to support the transition to net zero.
The programme comprises separate streams of grant funding to be launched in two initial stages.
Organisations of any size and type are eligible to seek funding. Businesses and research organisations in the UK may qualify.
The application deadline for the initial two streams is 2pm on 19th January, 2023.
Wave 5 of Funding for Further Education Providers Offering T Levels to Applications
The Department for Education (DfE) is providing the T Levels Capital Fund (TLCF) with the aim of helping eligible providers have world class facilities for the delivery of T Levels.
There are two elements of the fund:
- Specialist equipment allocation (SEA)
- Buildings and facilities improvement grant (BFIG)
Where an Academy is part of a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) the MAT will need to apply on behalf of the Academy.
The deadline for applications is 12pm on 3rd February, 2023.
Launch of £1m Challenge for Innovations to Transform Learning
The Big Education Challenge has been established to fund innovative ideas with the potential to transform education and learning in the UK.
The aim is to offer both young and experienced innovators the support needed to bring their ideas to life.
There are two prizes available through this £1 million Challenge:
- The £300,000 Groundbreaker Prize seeks aspiring innovators who want to challenge the status quo in education in the UK.
- The £700,000 Gamechanger Prize seeks individuals with a track record of leading innovative projects or approaches with tangible social impact.
For the Groundbreaker prize, young people in the UK aged 18-25 may apply. Groups of people can submit, but one individual must be named as the lead innovator.
The Gamechanger prize is open to UK-based individuals aged 18 or over with a track-record of leading innovative projects.
Entries must be submitted by 8th February, 2023.
Launch of HGV Parking and Driver Welfare Grant Scheme
Through the HGV Parking and Driver Welfare Grant Scheme, operators of truck-stops and roadside services can apply for government funding to carry out improvements to driver facilities.
Applicants can apply for up to £315,000 per site to invest in capital improvement projects only.
Businesses that operate HGV driver facilities at independent truck stops, motorway service areas, trunk road service areas, or local authority truck stops may apply.
Applications must be submitted by 24th February, 2023.
Lloyd's Bank Foundation Launches Unrestricted Grants
Building a Better Future' the Foundation has announced the launch of a Specialist Funding Programme to continue supporting small and grassroots organisations.
Charities and Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs) can apply for an unrestricted grant of up to £75,000 over three years.
The funding is for organisations supporting people (17 years and older) who are experiencing complex social issues resulting in a significant impact on their lives.
Grants can be used to support any costs which further the charity's purpose, including building reserves and meeting core costs.
There will be an information webinar on 12th January, 2023 to discuss the fund.
The deadline to apply is 5pm on 3rd March, 2023.
Schools Invited to Join National Breakfast Programme
The National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP) delivered by Family Action is to support schools to provide children with a healthy breakfast at the start of the school day.
The programme will provide schools with up to three years of support to run a successful and affordable school breakfast provision.
Schools in disadvantaged areas will be eligible for the programme if they have 40% or more pupils in bands A-F of the income deprivation affecting children index (IDACI). This will include state-funded primary, secondary, special schools and alternative provision.
Schools must complete an online expression of interest form to participate.
