We brought the Christmas stockings to the food bank filled with candy, toiletry items(in a ziplock bag), small toys, and a book. We were able to make 15 stockings this year. We dropped off 4 knitted blankets at the nursing facility down the road.
Today, we completed homeschooling lessons early enough to volunteer 4 hours at the food bank and 2 hours at the animal shelter. The food bank was very busy today. Everyone was able to leave loads of healthy foods. Things I noticed that things we were not being able to put in boxes this week were fresh eggs, butter, fresh milk, flour, and sugar. We received calls about why these items were not being handed out. One woman was in tears about the eggs because her daughter had dental surgery. I called my husband to bring up 3 dozen from our chickens. He was happy to do it. Other volunteers looked for yogurt, jello, etc. My husband called should I bring pudding. In the end, we were able to put together a box for her child.
The humane society required a little more patience from our daughter, she must have been a crazy cat lady in another life. She is always tearful when we leave. There is an older dog that needs a home that we are attached to. she is an old girl that needs a forever home.
