In 2022, in celebration of our 35th anniversary, we took a four-week camping trip to the national parks of Utah.
We left Walnut Shade, MO on August 30 and arrived back home on September 27, so amazed at God's creation and so humbled by his provision and protection; so much stronger, wiser, and happier; and so much more connected and refreshed than when we started.
We camped exclusively in state parks, namely Cedar Bluff State Park (Hays, KS); Chatfield State Park (Littleton, CO); James M. Robb State Park (Grand Junction, CO); Dead Horse Point State Park (Moab, UT); Otter Creek State Park (Antimony, UT); Quail Creek State Park (Hurricane, UT); Snow Canyon State Park (Ivins, UT); Navajo Lake State Park (Navajo Dam, UT); Santa Rosa Lake State Park (Santa Rosa, NM); Palo Duro Canyon State Park (Canyon, TX); and Keystone State Park (Sand Springs, OK).
We stopped for gas 37 times, spending a rip-roaring total of $2,221.66.
For an entire month we ate whatever we wanted whenever we wanted and wherever we wanted. Scott made some delicious breakfast and dinner meals on his nifty Blackstone griddle, we had a picnic lunch nearly every day, and we bought restaurant meals ten times. The Olive Garden in St. George, UT was so excellent that we ate there twice. = )
We absolutely loved touring four of Utah's national parks, namely Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and Zion National Park, in that order. That was the perfect order in which to visit them.
In 29 days, we drove our beloved 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, "Bessie," nearly 4,600 miles through nine states: Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, but my favorite part of the whole trip was the 273 miles Scott and I spent e-biking together. Although a few of those miles were exhausting, and a couple of them were downright scary, they were all WONDERFUL, and I'm so very, very, very thankful we were able to do them together.
Utah 2022 was our best vacation ever.
It was truly the trip of a lifetime!
