Dealing with Difficulties – Guilt
Romans 8 verse 1 "Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus"
What is guilt? Guilt may be described as an emotion/feeling where a person is concerned about their responsibility for a harmful attitude or behavior. It may cause one to be overwhelmed by the possibility of making a 'wrong' decision. Emotions follow thoughts, so we need to be aware of what we are thinking. Are we agreeing in our thoughts (and words) with what our Heavenly Father says about us?
Guilt can weigh us down but remember Our Lord and Our Friend delights in us walking in peace, joy and freedom. Jesus died, shed His blood, in order to 'cleanse our conscience from dead works". Hebrews 9:14." How much more shall the blood of Christ who through the eternal Spirit, offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" The blood and the Spirit work together. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
1 John 2 verses 1-2: "My little children, these things I write to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous 2. And He Himself is the propitiation of our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world". Propitiation meaning "averting the wrath of God by offering of a gift'; referring to the turning away of the wrath of God as the just judgement of our sin by God's own provision of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.
Therefore, give Him your brokenness and receive the refreshment of His forgiveness and acceptance. Psalm 19 verse 13: {Message Bible}; "Clean the slate, God, so we can start the day fresh! Keep me from stupid sins, from thinking I can take over Your work. Then I can start this day sun-washed, scrubbed clean of the grime of sin".
Our Lord and Our Friend will give us a new start with genuine repentance, so we can live free from guilt. Repentance means change of mind. So, whenever guilt tries to hold us back, repent and surrender it to Our Lord and Our Friend and accept the new start He gives us.
God Bless.
