#NewComicBookDay and it's a great day to be a comic book enthusiast! Sponsored by All C's Collectibles and the hunt for "Panto Mime", with a cash prize awarded to the winning design. Smurf is ready to award you with his top five picks of the week for all of the comic lovers out there, so we've got five stacked high ready to fly:
TMNT Last Ronin Lost Years #1> In the smash-hit miniseries TMNT: The Last Ronin, readers witnessed the final gut-wrenching days of the Heroes in a Half Shell. For Michelangelo in particular, the march to his heartbreaking last battle was long and dangerous, taking him from New York City, to Japan, across Asia and Europe, and then back home again to administer final justice against those guilty of killing his family. But what happened during those fateful years when he had only the need for vengeance and Master Splinter's journal to guide him? What battles did he fight? What hard lessons did he learn? The time has come to find out as original miniseries writers Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz join artist Ben Bishop to reveal what adventures the Last Ronin experienced during his vengeful journey. While in the present, a new master, Casey Marie Jones, prepares her young terrapin students to be the next generation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Smurfs Take> The heartbreaking fate of the Turtles explained through the issues of The Last Ronin and now it's time for Mikey's story. We get a small explanation but there's so much story left to tell and I'm eager to read it since I think this should have been more of the direction the Last Ronin took than the one it did. Don't get me wrong, I understand why and still loved the story and have no doubt this will grab my attention the moment I open it. I just think it's the long way to get around to this story.
Saga #61> NEW STORY ARC SAGA is back, and it's time for another epic season of emotional adventures and shocking surprises for Hazel and her star-crossed family! About the SAGA series: SAGA has sold seven million copies to date across single issue, trade paperback, compendium, hardcover, and digital editions and has been translated into 20 languages. The series also boasts multiple Eisner Awards, Harvey Awards, a Hugo Award, British Fantasy Award, Goodreads Choice Award, Shuster Award, Inkwell Award, Ringo Award, and more. It has been featured in such mainstream media outlets as TIME, Entertainment Weekly, The Atlantic, NPR, and more. The series has become a pop culture phenomenon and has been immortalized with references and easter eggs appearing in such popular TV shows as Supernatural, The Big Bang Theory, The Simpsons, and even a recent Taco Bell commercial featuring the characters dressed in cosplay. Smurfs Take> It's immense, it's glorious, and unlike any comic you will read. If you read it, you know what I'm talking about and if you don't then you should stop missing out on the true comic book treasure that Saga is and pick it up today.
Batman-One Bad Day: Catwoman #1> Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, is the greatest thief that Gotham City has ever seen. She's effortlessly stolen countless items of immense value over the years and successfully evaded the GCPD and Batman. But when Catwoman finds out an item from her past is being sold for way more than it used to be worth, it sends Catwoman into a spiral, and she'll do everything in her power to steal it back. Batman tries to stop her before she goes too far, and a mysterious figure known as the Forger will change Catwoman's life forever. The all-star creative team of G. WILLOW WILSON (Poison Ivy, Ms. Marvel) and JAMIE McKELVIE (The Wicked & The Divine, Young Avengers) unite for this epic story! (S) G. Willow Wilson (A) Jamie McKelvie
Smurfs Take> The One Bad Day was a great read, one of the best Batman stories of the year in my opinion. I'm not surprised to see DC build off of its success and using Catwoman to further the idea. I'm excited for a self-contained Catwoman smash a grab story, with a little history thrown in to spice it up.
DC Horror Presents: SGT Rock Vs. The Army of the Dead #5> They've blasted their way through impossible scenarios and burned their way through throngs of undead soldiers. But now Sgt. Rock and Easy Company find themselves hot on the trail of an enemy even they may not be able to handle: an über-upgraded, rejuvenation serum-addicted Adolf Hitler. Smurfs Take> The story that keeps you going, laughing while looking over your shoulder. There's so many things that this title is doing right but regrettably the art isn't one of those things and I think it's impacting the sales of the comics. A lot of fans have voiced this and I hope people can try and look past it and give this title a strong finish next month. It's worth the read!
Darkwing Duck #1> He is the terror that flaps in the night...He is the ferocious fowl who plucks the evil eye from the face of foul play...He is Darkwing Duck! Alongside his trusty sidekick Lauchpad McQuack, Darkwing hyper-vigilantly defends St. Canard from the dastardly, devilish demons who would wage wanton war! By night, our caped defender lurks in the shadows, striking fear (and maybe confusion?) in the heart of the criminal underworld...but by day, no one suspects that Darkwing is also mild-mannered Drake Mallard, a well-meaning father to his adorable adopted daughter, Gosalyn! Can Darkwing successfully navigate his two separate lives, all while looking incredibly cool and impossibly handsome? (Hint: Probably not, but...) You'll have to read to find out!

Smurfs Take> The parade of our youth continues with this title as the Disney afternoon returns to comics. Definitely one of the stronger cartoons as it pulled inspiration from all comics for the colorful villains that would show up daily on the episodes. I rather enjoyed this cartoon, and the jokes were well thought-out but never got he ending it deserved, to be honest none of the Disney Afternoon did. This is more of a guilty pleasure and I'm sure I won't be the only one eager to visit the past this week.
