"If you're in your 40s or thereabouts, you're probably familiar with the dreaded P-word," writes Janine Annett today. Not period nor pasta nor #promposal. She's talking about perimenopause, the phase before menopause officially kicks off. And she's got some good news, actually!
"I tend to want to look on the bright side. So let's meno-pause (again, sorry) and think about the upside to what's happening downstairs," she suggests. Frankly, I found it reassuring – and it cracked me up. Enjoy!
"We've just dropped off my preschooler and my 2-year-old is strapped securely into her car seat directly behind me. She is less than two feet away, kicking the back of my seat with her long toddler legs, determined to keep my full attention for the entire ride." And she does it with one word, over and over and over again: "Mom. Mom. Mom. Mommy. Mom. Mommy. Mommy. Mum." Lord, this one was relatable.
