I'm so grateful to Lori Ann Wood's testimony of gentle faith and insight into how God deepened her faith through a life-changing experience with heart failure. At 51, Lori was healthy and strong, until she wasn't. After 7 years, drs still don't have answers as to why her heart failed in 2015 and how long until it happens the next time.
Lori turned this trial and testing into lessons of deepened faith—lessons we all can benefit from. We might not all get such an unusual and frightening diagnosis, but we all go up against some type of brick wall where we find out what is it we really believe about God.
Her book, Divine Detour: The Path You Didn't Choose Can Lead to the Faith You've Always Wanted, releases this week, and she will be hosting a giveaway. I think you'll need one as a gift and one to keep.
Some gems:
- Anytime when faced with a temptation, we must ask ourselves the question: "Do we trust God to meet our needs or not?"
- I learned that my faith had been all about me rather than about God.
- Doubts are not the opposite of faith—indifference is.
- God never promises a live of ease and comfort this side of heaven; He does promise He will always be with us, and that is the greater blessing.
- Questions are what strengthens faith.
- Do we want the safer life or the deeper life?
