The question above made me smile and laugh. I could also hear my grandmother saying, "There are two types of people those with no hair and trying to do too much, and those with too much who don't do anything with it". I have always been in the latter camp. When I get asked about my hair, my answer is "I wash, condition, and move on with my day, and the products are nothing special". My spouse will often chime in and say, she uses Juice and Berries (this is a famous film reference) and for those who get it, a great laugh ensues. Though my spouse is correct, the players in my hair routine are Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo, extra olive oil, Glory conditioner, and Revive Hair Moisturizer (both by LUSH).
The routine: I wash my hair once a week in the colder months (two to four times aweek in the warmer months), followed by a deep overnight conditioner rinsed with ice cold water, followed by a few drops of olive oil and Revive, followed by putting my hair into four to six buns so it doesn't get tangled. In the morning I undo the buns and go on about my day. I spend no more than 10 minutes a day on my hair, excluding wash day.
No, I don't know "How it gets so curly?" In the 25 plus years I have been natural, my best guesses are it's had enough time to find its natural curl pattern, genetics, and I don't add heat. Albeit I have been known to have it straightened and my ends trimmed annually on Halloween to freak people out. What's your hair routine? How much time and money do you spend on your hair?
