Her dad and I were struggling to teach this girl coins after she had trouble with her homework worksheet.
My husband kept repeating the coin names to her from the black and white worksheet but it wasn't sticking.
Then I grabbed a handful of coins from the top of the desk and told her she could keep them if she memorized the names and amounts. Seeing the colors and feeling the textures helped. So did goofy names and funny sounds.
But the real breakthrough came when she made this sheet and taped the coins to it. Now she wants to teach her best friend who has apparently been having a hard time with coins, and maybe her whole class.
I love watching our kids learn. In their own way.
