The saying running on the smell of an oily rag, has been around for a number of years. There are a lot of different meanings, but basically means doing things on the cheap, or doing things with little resources.
Well in a Biblical sense it doesn't work, we only have to look at the story of the foolish virgins, Matthew 25 verse 1 to 13:
We are God's own handiwork. God is holy, so we are the handiwork of Holiness. We are born again in Christ Jesus, who is The Anointed One. Through His holy anointing, we are created to do good works and live the good life of faith. As citizens of heaven, as children of the Holy God, we are instructed to consecrate and sanctify ourselves for God.
We need to have a continual flowing of His anointing into our lives. His anointing, He gives to us to use, and as we use it, we are to come back and be replenished too. It is out of His anointing on our lives, our lives will bear fruit for the His Kingdom.
God has called us out from darkness into His wonderful light so that we may be holy, and be a people belonging to Him. We are chosen to be His royal priesthood; to minister to the King of kings and Lord of Lord. We are to shine forth the goodness of God, the righteousness of God, the purity of God, and the Truth of God which leads to eternal life.
We can't be Kingdom people that run on the smell of an oily rag, we need to be people full of His anointing all the time, so we can reach our purpose and destiny in Him.
1 Corinthians 6 verse 20″ For you were bought at a price; Therefore glorify God in your body.
Take the time to be regularly filled with all the anointing He has for all those that belong to Him.
Top up, before you run out, which will cause you to burn out.
God Bless.
