Do you ever need a boost of energy to put a spring in your step and shift your focus to positive things? Yesterday was one of those kinds of days for me. There is something about walking past the Nation's Capitol that garners a sense of patriotic pride. Yesterday the pristine white of the building in contrast to the blue sky was energizing.
In reflecting on it this morning, my thoughts took me back to 1978 and the sound of Willie Nelson singing Blue Skies. I bet you remember the words:
… I was blue, just as blue as I could be
Ev'ry day was a cloudy day for me
Then good luck came a-knocking at my door
Skies were gray but they're not gray anymore
… Blue skies
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see
… Bluebirds
Singing a song
Nothing but bluebirds
All day long
… Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my how they fly
… Blue days
All of them gone
Nothing but blue skies
From now on
… I should care if the wind blows east or west
I should fret if the worst looks like the best
I should mind if they say it can't be true
I should smile, that's exactly what I do
The sky worked its natural charm on me yesterday. Later as I walked along Pennsylvania Avenue, I stopped in front of row house and found myself lost in thought wondering what it would have been like to live in D.C. when the home was new? I guess I could have wondered what it would be like to live there now, but there is something refreshing about turning the clock back 100 years.
Of course, what would D.C. be like in the springtime without the signature series cherry blossoms? The sight added an extra shot of enjoyment in the day.
All My Best!
Don
