Last night, I had the hardest time to sleep. That uncharacteristic of me; usually once I turn on a Christian meditation and my head hits the pillow I am out.
However last night was a different story.
I have been following Jesus long enough to know that when I can't go to sleep it means He wants to tell me something. After trying for an hour, I asked God what He wanted to tell me.
I felt the Holy Spirit whisper over my heart,
'Remember the promise.'
"Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the Lord your God has come true. Not a single one has failed!"-Joshua 23:14 NLT
The promise He was referencing was one spoken to me sometime around the time I broke things off with my boyfriend. He told me,
'I would be single for the next year.'
I didn't write it down because I didn't want it to be true. I miss being in a relationship. I miss a guy blowing up my phone, not buying my own food or coffee. The fact that I didn't write it down because I didn't want it to be true, is quite contradictory.
"We can make our plans, but the Lord gives the right answer."-Proverbs 16:1 NLT
Writing it down doesn't make it come true, what makes it true is He said it. If He said it, it's going to come to fruition.
"Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who came to him for protection."-Proverbs 30:5 NLT
He has protected me from so much and I need to believe what He says will happen. He will not give me a good man until He deems the time is right (Song of Solomon 2:7)
I was at Bible study and I stumbled across this verse,
"No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew stronger in his faith as he gave glory to God."-Romans 4:20 ESV
The he in this verse is the great man of faith Abraham. It is something I strive for faith like Abraham. In Genesis 12, we see him pack up and leave the land he knew and get this to the place God would show him.
The promise was the birth of a son at the ripe old age of 100.
The passage continues saying,
"fully convinced that God was able to do what he promised."-Romans 4:21 ESV
God will do what he promised and as long as I am waiting for that good man, my faith doesn't need to waver because God will follow through on His Word.
For anyone reading this having doubts, I've been there, believe what He says. He is not going to let you down.
I was reminded this morning that God is madly in love with His children and wants the absolute best for
us.
"So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him."- Matthew 7:11 NLT
