April is a month of celebrations for many. People in Thailand celebrated the Thai New Year with the Songkran festival (water festival).
Sri Lankans also celebrated their New Year. Yesterday many celebrated Hari Raya (or Eids al Fitr).
Sri Lankan New Year
Krizia made kiribath (milky rice) and ordered Sri Lankan sweets for the Sri Lankan New Year (see featured image). She shared the recipe of kiribath, a common celebratory dish, in an earlier post which is worth re-visiting.
Feisan, who is in Sabah, sent a photo of a Libyan meal she had with her friends. It must have been an authentic Libyan meal as it was prepared by a Libyan. Feisan couldn't name all the dishes, but the meal consisted of Libyan couscous, chicken and a salad.
I googled Libyan cuisine out of interest. Then Feisan sent a link to a recipe for a Libyan couscous classic dish. It was a recipe by Edun Club, just in case you would like to check it out.
Grandma's celebration dinners
Pearl has continued to enjoy her grandmother's cooking. Her grandmother cooked a special Sunday dinner to celebrate her cousin's return from the UK.
Pearl sent another photo last Sunday with a note: "Currently fine-dining at my grandma's place." She must have been enjoying her favourite dishes. Grandmothers have a way of making every meal special.
Fatima's Hari Raya goodies
Fatima just dropped off some Hari Raya goodies. She messaged to say that she was dropping something off. I was happy just to see and to greet her and her family. She brought enough Hari Raya goodies to fill a whole trolley! Festive occasions are indeed occasions for sharing joys and food.
