Kindness From the heart
Kindness is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit listed in Galatians 5 verses 22 to 23.
I was reading this week about the relationship between trust and kindness; the author was saying that without the demonstration of kindness, trust will not ensue. Oxytocin (one of the group of happy hormones) will not show up in the absence of kindness. In the brain, Oxytocin acts as a chemical messenger and has an important role in human behaviour including trust ; it is the hormone which triggers feelings of love and protection.
Romans 12 verse 10 tells us" to be devoted to one another in brotherly kindness".
2 Peter chapter 1 verses 5 to 7 again refers to growing in 'brotherly kindness' as a virtue that will be seen as we walk in close relationship with our Lord and Friend Jesus Christ.
One definition of kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.
Some other words for kindness are:- affection, gentleness, graciousness, tenderness, courtesy.
Psalm 36 verses 7 to 9 "How precious is Your loving kindness O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings and are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house and You given them drink from the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light".
Here we see, because of the loving kindness of our Father God, the children of men put their trust in Him and are abundantly satisfied.
Freely we have received, let's freely give.
"May Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord." 2 Peter 1:2
