Chaplain's Chat
Acts 20:35 "In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way, we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, when He Himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive".
Many law firms and individual solicitors try to take on a certain amount of pro bono work each year; for the good of others.
From Jesus perspective, pro bono work of any kind - legal or otherwise - is a blessed event, since, "It is more blessed to give than to receive".--------------
-When Abraham and Lot decided to go their separate ways in the land or Canaan, Abraham took the initiative and told his nephew (Lot), "Choose whatever portion of land you want, and I'll take what remains". Lot chose the best land for himself - the well watered plains of the Jordan River Valley - while Abraham moved further into the arid part of Canaan. Because of Abraham's priority on giving instead of receiving, God blessed him in many ways. Lot, on the other hand, adopted a legacy of worldliness and sin for himself and his family - the story in Genesis 13.
God promises to bless when we give - giving is a God kind of choice.
Heavenly Father, thank you that you are such a giving and forgiving God. Help us to adopt that same giving heart, so that we may bless others as you have blessed us, in Jesus Name. Amen
