Lots of things happening lately that have dragged me away from my beloved blogging world...
A loss
DH and I spent last weekend in a town a few hours away visiting my father-in-law who was in hospital. He has had many health issues over the years, so we were kind of used to him going in and out of hospital.
On Monday he went back to the care facility in his home town, and we were preparing to head up there for the weekend to spend some more time with him.
This morning we got a message that he had passed away. He was going to turn 89 later this month.
So it will be off to another funeral soon... and that will be both of DH's parents gone.
It's an interesting thing when you get to the age where your parents are passing away. We lost DH's mother and my foster mother last year. It does make you think about your own mortality - at least it has had me thinking
It was one of the main catalysts of starting the Organize Your Home Challenge at the beginning of this year. I don't want to leave a huge mess for my kids to have to sort out.
But in all of this, it also has made me thankful for the time we had with our loved ones now gone.
I'm thankful that we were able to spend the weekend with my DFIL, and have a few chuckles with him... he is now without pain.
A funny kitty
And now for some light heartedness... we lit the wood heater this week for the first time this year... our new windows have really made a difference with keeping the cold out, it's been great!
Loki loves the heater... while I have been crocheting, he comes and sits close by...
This morning I woke up to find him sitting on the little mat from his tent:
I thought someone had moved it there for him, but turns out he did it all by himself... what a clever little boy he is!
Just don't want him to drag it any closer in case it catches on fire!!!
A Little Break
I am going to be absent from blogland for a little while, other than our regular SAL posts and next Wednesday I will put up the One Gift A Month challenge.
Monday This and That will be on hold for a while since I don't even have time at the moment to visit the lovely bloggers who share their links, and that's not good...
Hope you are all well... hold your loved ones tight...
