| T Coe May 8 | - Beach vacations. My cousin's wedding down in Sarasota (Anna Maria Island, to be specific) gave us an excuse to take the whole family on a beach vacation. Having grown up on the East Coast and spent nearly every summer weekend of my childhood on the beach, the idea of a beach vacation always seemed silly to me. But, wow, is it nice to just sit there in the sun for a few hours! (Playing with a toddler in the sand is also a ton of fun.)
- Sibling catch-ups. With my sister staying with us for a night before our wedding / beach trip, we had the unusual opportunity to call our brother in Japan and have a rare all-siblings-on FaceTime call.
- Air travel with kids. Is hard. But if your kids behave (as ours did!), you do get lots of undeserved compliments from strangers. As my wife pointed out, we only deserve credit for bringing enough toys with us on the plane.
- Airports. Bring a toddler to the airport and you will remember how cool airplanes are. (And terminal shuttles, and buses, and all the strange vehicles that you see scooting around the tarmac.)
- Grouper sandwiches. A Gulf Coast specialty.
- Poker Face. I loved every episode of this wonderful "howcatchem" (what a terrible term), but especially the way that Charlie's long-form narrative of being on the run slots into the larger show.
- "Cast Iron Skillet" by Jason Isbell. I've written enough about it already! Great song.
