Otakon 2023 has announced that Mario Castañeda will be a guest at its upcoming convention. He is best known for his iconic role as Goku in the Spanish-language dub of Dragon Ball Z.
A veteran voice actor from Mexico, Castañeda has 40 years of experience as an actor, announcer, dialogue director, lecture speaker, dubbing teacher, and master of ceremonies. He has lent his voice to a variety of beloved characters in anime and more.
In addition to Dragon Ball (Goku, Bardock, Turles, Goku Black), he has voiced characters in other popular anime series: Saint Seiya, Knights of the Zodiac (Gemini Kanon), Naruto Shippuden (Hidan), Futurama (Zapp Brannigan), and El Chavo animado, México (Don Ramón and Ñoño).
Castañeda has been the voice for Latin America of actors such as: Bruce Willis, Jim Carrey, Mark Ruffalo, John Leguizamo, Tom Hanks, and Cuba Gooding Jr.
He has worked in the dubbing of series such as: The Wonder Years, Moonlighting, MacGyver, Nip/Tuck, ER, Marvel's Agents of Shield, Flash, Chicago Fire, and Avengers.
Otakon will be held from July 28-30, 2023 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
