God's kindness From the heart
Romans chapter 2 verse 4(b) "Do you realize that all the wealth of His extravagant kindness is meant
to melt your heart and lead you into repentance?" The Aramaic word for kindness can be translated
'sweetness' The Passion Translation
My Bible reading (BIOY) today was about 'kindness'. "Kindness is love in work clothes. Showing
God's love in practical ways, people have discovered the power of kindness to effect positive change,
both in their own lives and in the lives of people around them. Unexpected kindness is the most
powerful, least costly, and most underrated agent of human change. When kindness is expressed,
healthy relationships are created, community connections are nourished, and people are inspired to
pass on kindness."
How encouraging is that? We see that kindness comes from the heart of our Lord and Friend. It is
listed among the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5 verses 22 to 23. I love this in The Passion
Translation:
"But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions;
joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue,
faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit –
never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless".
True kindness is Spirit-produced. It's a supernaturally generous orientation of our hearts toward
other people, even when they don't deserve it and don't love us in return. God Himself is kind in this
way. (Romans 2:4)
We are called sons and daughters of the most High God – revealing the nature of our Father in the
earth today is our purpose wherever we are.
As we yield to Him, allowing Him to melt our hearts and leading us to change wrong concepts in our
minds, and taking hold of who the Bible says we are; then kindness can flow freely from us. A smile,
a kind word, an encouragement, a thank you or however we are prompted by Holy Spirit as we go
about our day – all to bring honor to our precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Grace and peace.
