Colorado gets steaming hot. Cold treats are a must. I make flavored waters with my soda stream. However, with the children and their friends, icy treats can break the budget fast. I like to offer zero-waste healthy treats.
Some of the things I served over the last week:
Watermelon mint sorbet
Oatmeal cookie ice cream sandwiches
Carrot Cake ice-pops.(These were delicious. I made fresh carrot juice with a layer of cream cheese frosting at the top and bottom.
Mint iced tea pops
Grape juice pops.
Coconut water pops(These are over 5 dollars a box for 4)
I made the above sweet cold treats for less than 10 dollars. I wasn't throwing away plastic wraps, tubs, and sticks.
I can control the sugar and fat.
Cold Drinks:
Cucumber/ Mint Water
Ginger ale ( I made this from ginger fermenting)
Every morning, I stack the cement bar we made with iced water and flavored water.
I set out card games and board games. As our children's friends flow through the day, drinks and cups are ready. My kitchen stays neater.
Dad's music selection for the week outside is Bob Dylan. It is a punishment to our daughter, then I reminded him that he is torturing me. Bob Dylan makes me cringe.
