Phoebe Waller-Bridge
Phoebe Waller-Bridge has denied being under consideration to direct Bond 26.
The denial was a small part of a feature article on the writer-actress in Vanity Fair. Here's the key excerpt:
I mention a recent tabloid rumor that her name's been in the running to direct the next Bond movie. "My mum sent me that rumor too," she says with a cackle, denying it with a flourish and pointing out that she's only ever directed a single music video. "So the obvious leap is James Bond," she jokes.
The story referred to was published April 1 in The Mail on Sunday. That article said Waller-Bridge had been in early discussions with Eon Productions boss Barbara Broccoli about helming Bond 26. The Mail described Waller-Bridge as Broccoli's No. 1 choice as director and co-writer. Waller-Bridge was among the screenwriters of 2021's No Time to Die.
Much of the Vanity Fair article concerns Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, where she appears with Harrison Ford. The movie comes out this week after generating mixed reviews with an overall score of 64 percent (as of this writing) on the Rotten Tomatoes website.
