Give life.
"In every encounter we either give life or we drain it - there is no neutral
exchange" Brennan Manning Quote
I saw this quote the other day and it got me thinking. I pondered in my heart as
to whether people I interact with regularly would say they felt energized or
drained after we had spent time together. I also reflected on different
encounters I'd had with people, and on what occasions I myself had felt
energized, and when I was left feeling drained.
Jesus speaking in John 6:63
GNT "What gives life is God's Spirit; human power is of no use at all. The words
I have spoken to you bring God's life-giving Spirit".
NLT "The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing.
And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life".
Since we are spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23), when we are born
again, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within our spirit. Thus we have access to
the life-giving Spirit of God continuously. We are able therefore to release this
life wherever we go, In our words and actions.
When we find ourselves in a place where we are feeling drained by
circumstances or people we encounter, we can go to our Lord and Friend, and
He restores our soul. Spending quiet time with Him, meditating on the
Scriptures of how much He loves us, listening to worship music or maybe even
praying with a friend, will help to replenish our soul. Jesus often went aside to
spend time with His Father to be refreshed; we need to do the same.
As we behold Him, our Lord and Friend, we will become like the One we are
beholding. We too will find that His life and love is flowing out through us and
joy is ours.
Grace and peace to you.
