Fruit of the Spirit – Developing character of Jesus Love (Part 1)
Galatians 5 verse 22 and 23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Against such there is no law". These are powerful forces which make up our
new nature when we are born-again by the Spirit of God. (John chapter 3).
They come from the nature of our Heavenly Father and will produce great
victory in our lives as we allow them to develop and transform us from the
inside out. Each fruit of the Spirit enables the individual believer to be
over comers in adverse situations that arise in our lives.
The word 'fruit' of the Spirit is different from the 'gifts' of the Spirit listed in
Romans 12:6-8 and 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, (which are bestowed by God's
grace). Fruit must be cultivated and that requires time and effort. The
development of fruit is a growth process; we see in the laws of nature, and the
same is true in the spiritual realm.
John 13:35 "By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have
love for one another". In other words, you will recognize My disciples by their
character.
1 John 4 verse 19 says "we love Him because He first loved us." The previous
verse (18), "there is no fear in love, because perfect love casts out fear;
because fear has torment and he that fears has not been made perfect in love".
Our Lord and Friend shows us when we know that we are perfectly loved by
Him, fear will no longer be able to torment us.
Our Lord and Friend wants us to not just know about, to but experience His
love.
Ephesians 3:18-19 The Passion Translation "then you will be empowered to
discover what every holy one experiences – the great magnitude of the
astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions. How deeply intimate and far-
reaching is His love! How enduring and inclusive it is. Endless love beyond
measurement that transcends our understanding – this extravagant love pours
into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God".
Let's allow His love to grow in our lives and transform us from the inside out.
Shalom Kath
