Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It's a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer's Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting!
July Question
Let's rock the neurotic writing world!
Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.
The awesome co-hosts for the July 5 posting of the IWSG are PJ Colando, Kim Lajevardi, Gwen Gardner, Pat Garcia, and Natalie Aguirre!
Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
Remember, the question is optional!
July 5 question - 99% of my story ideas come from dreams. Where do yours predominantly come from?
I love this question!
One of my favorite questions to ask is where a story started.
I started writing down my dreams years ago. I had one dream that was vivid and clearly a story but it has not found a home yet. It is one I need to pull out of the Google Drive and revise.
Ideas for me come from everywhere. I am always carrying a notebook or my phone with the Keep app. I am making notes all the time.
I listen to conversations when I am out and about. This is why I cannot write in a coffee shop because I listen and take notes and get none of my own writing done.
While I workout, I listen to podcasts and there is often an idea that comes from listening. It can be directly related to the content of the podcast but most of the time it is something random I am reminded of because of the way the speaker tells a story or turns a phrase.
Inspiration is everywhere!
