Many great stories of overcoming, through Faith in El-Gibbor, {which one of the Elohistic names of God and describes God as Mighty and Great.} Faith in a Great and Mighty God.
In 1 Samuel 14 verse 6: "Come on, let's cross over to the garrison of these uncircumcised men {pagans}. Perhaps the Lord will help us. Nothing can keep the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few."
This was Saul's son Jonathon talking to his amour bearer.
Bold for God and dependent on Him alone, Jonathon attempted difficult undertakings for God's glory. Jonathon always sought God's will before taking risks. A good plan for us all to have, Take everything we do, to Our Lord and Our Friend, before we attempt them. Jonathon didn't do things on his own, but his trust was not in his amour bearer, whom he instructed to climb up behind him and not ahead of him.
This is a great leadership concept, lead from the front, never put your Faith in God in someone Else's faith in God, to lead you in the tasks you undertake for God.
As Jonathon and his amour bearer climb up and down the various cliffs, they were easy targets for the enemy. but Jonathon had an assurance in God, that they would beat the odds.
These two men did more than what could be expected, in there God honoring attack on the enemy. They set in motion a state of panic, which amplified by an earthquake, caused the entire Philistine army to scatter. Then Jonathon with the help of his army pursued and defeated them.
Jonathon became a committed friend of David for life. Both men knew what it was to trust God's power in the face of overwhelming odds.
Faith Story, Faith Reality, by depending on God's power and seeking His Glory, we all can overcome the odds as well.
God Bless.
