Faith is a substance, it's the evidence of things not seen. It doesn't matter how insignificant you feel, with faith in our ever present God, the Lord that never fails "All Things Are Possible!"
One of my heroes of faith was William Carey. He had a saying "expect great things from God and attempt great things for God."
Currently writing this I really am in a position that really needs faith. But I am reminded that Faith is a journey. How far we go depends on how far we believe we can go.
"Without faith it is impossible to please God."
How much in life can we miss if we don't have faith? Our potential in life is limited by lack of faith. To each of us is given a measure of faith, faith described as a mustard seed. Our potential is like that seed, with the right nourishment and care it will grow. The seed toward the sun, our potential in and for our ever present God toward Him our ever ever present God.
Westminster Catechism declares: "What is the chief end of man? To glorify God and enjoy him forever."
Enjoy God!! Yes, enjoy God! "Without faith it is impossible to please God." How can we really enjoy Him without pleasing Him? After all, don't we all get enjoyment out of pleasing others. It's been hardwired into us from the beginning of time.
I, like many others, see life as a journey. Not too much unlike a character in a book. A journey in which I the central character of my story, will face hurdles, and pitfalls, and challenges, but will emerge from the tried, tested, and better off for facing them. But in saying that, I also acknowledge that anyone on a journey could certainly use as much help as they can get. And I figure the best way to seek help in my journey is to lean on the Author of Creation, God. As the author of my story, he'll be able to help me make it through trials and avoid pitfalls, and we will have grown together. He will give us the help we seek, because He loves us whether we please him or not.
The bible says many wonderful things for me to find the hope and faith that I need to push on. And why shouldn't it? It is after all the living word.
"Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I will feel no evil for thou are with me."
Faith transcends the negative feeling of self doubt and discouragement of good minded people around us. Faith lifts you to an impossible position of trust against all odds. Daniel had faith in the ever present God and he kept his mouth shut. Faith is our voice in times of trial, it's the constant that lifts us.
G K Chesterton wrote, "One sees great things from the valley; only small things from the peak." There is great deliverance in the valley, because from the peak we are expected to do great things. When you understand great deliverance you understand something about selection and the awesome price our God paid so we could truly be.
We can live in Him or we can believe we live without Him, but without Him we could not truly live. The word proclaims "He came to set us free" Free from what? Have you ever dwelt upon it?
I know for me, I'm going to keep believe that God is a God he keeps His word, and that He has set me free, to complete the plans and purpose He has for my life Jeremiah 29 Verse 11
God Bless
