Applications to Offer Heat Training Grants for Heat Networks Now Open
The Heat Training Grant will support thousands of trainees over the next two years to become low carbon heating experts – creating new green jobs and growing the economy in green industries.
Heat network training providers offering the grant will be able to provide trainees with a discount or rebate of up to £500.
Training providers will be selected in two bidding rounds: one for training delivery in 2023/2024 and one for delivery in 2024/2025.
The deadline for applications is 8th August, 2023.

£20m Revenue Funding to Support Swimming Pools
The government has launched the Swimming Pool Support Fund (SPSF) to provide a total of £60 million to local authorities in England as a support package for public leisure facilities with swimming pools.
The SPSF is split into two phases.
- Phase I - Revenue: £20m is available to support facilities with swimming pools with increased cost pressures, leaving them most vulnerable to closure or significant service reduction.
- Phase II - Capital: £40m will also be made available by the government for capital investment to improve the energy efficiency of public facilities with pools in the medium to long term.
Applicants must register to receive the application form via Sport England's website.
Completed application forms can be submitted via the online portal from 4th August, 2023 and the deadline for receipt of applications is noon on 11th August, 2023.
Swimming Pool Support Fund Details
New GSK Health Inequalities Programme Opens for Applications
The new GSK Health Inequalities Programme is funded by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in partnership with The King's Fund.
The funding is aimed at very small charities working in their communities to address health inequalities and who find it hard to access unrestricted funding and support for their leaders.
The awards are as follows:
- Up to 15 charities will receive up to £10,000 in unrestricted funding.
- Award winners will also be offered access to training and development valued at £2,700.
The deadline for online applications is 5pm on 14th August 2023.
GSK Health Inequalities Programme Details
Single Grant Available to Support Veterans' Mobility
Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust is delivering a new funding programme aimed at supporting disabled veterans to access mobility equipment that meets their needs and improves their quality of life.
The fund offers one single award of up to £2.52 million over five years for an organisation to deliver in-kind grants in the form of specialist mobility equipment.
Registered charities can apply to this programme.
The deadline to apply is 5pm on 14th August, 2023.
Veteran Mobility Fund Details
HMRC Offering £5.5 Million in Grants to the Voluntary Sector
HMRC is looking for voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations to help customers to form or rebuild a relationship with HMRC that enables them to engage directly with HMRC in the future.
There is a total of £5.5 million on offer for 2024-2027. Registered charities, voluntary and community organisations, social enterprises, mutual and co-operatives can apply.
There will be live Q&A sessions with the HMRC Grant Funding Team on 8th August, 2023.
The fund will close at 11.59pm on 21st August, 2023.

Home Decarbonisation Skills Training Competition – Phase 2 Now Open
The Home Decarbonisation Skills Training Competition has been created to fund training for people working, or who want to work, in the energy efficiency and building retrofit sectors.
In Phase 2 of the programme, £8.85 million will be available to training providers for programmes to deliver a suite of training solutions.
Applications are invited from training providers, further education colleges, training academies, and manufacturer training centres. Applications from consortia are welcome.
The deadline for applications is 11pm on 25th August, 2023.

IUK Launches New Round of Economy Investor Partnerships SME Competition
The Future Economy Investor Partnership aims to provide applicants with support for research and development and access to the capital investment needed to develop and commercialise innovations.
The broad theme areas are:
- Net zero
- Health and wellbeing
- Next generation digital technologies and technology families
Each project's total costs will depend on the research category and must be between £50,000 and £300,000 for feasibility studies; £100,000 and £1 million for industrial research; £250,000 and £2 million for experimental development.
The competition is open to single applicants only. UK registered micro, small or medium sized businesses (SMEs) may apply.
The Round 3 deadline for applications is 11am on 30th August, 2023.

Leeds Building Society Foundation Reopens for Applications
The Leeds Building Society Foundation is once again inviting applications from UK registered charities.
Projects must meet the Foundation's purpose through one or more of its criteria themes e.g. Sustainability, Health, Financial Stress, Accessibility, Education, Security and Refuge.
Applications may be submitted at any time for consideration at quarterly meetings of Leeds Building Society Charitable Foundation.
The next deadline for applications is 30th August, 2023.

Home Office Community Engagement Fund Reopens for Applications
The Community Engagement Fund (CEF) is a £150,000 grant fund to support grassroots and community groups to engage communities and raise awareness of priority Home Office policy areas and the support available.
Grants of between £5,000 and £10,000 can cover costs associated with:
- Holding events, for example cost of venue, refreshments, and other related costs.
- Creating and sharing marketing materials, like leaflets and posters.
- Running communications campaigns both in person and online.
- Accessing and using communication channels, for example social media or local radio.
- Getting support from corporate partners, public figures or advocates.
- Staff time to work specifically on the project.
The fund should support short and easy-to-deliver projects which must be completed by March 2024.
Applications will be accepted until 30th August,2023.

Applications Now Open for Ecology Outreach Grants
The British Ecological Society (BES) is now accepting applications for the second 2023 round of its public engagement grants programme.
The fund offers grants of up to £2,000 and is open to all individuals and organisations that are able to organise public engagement events in ecology.
The deadline to apply is 11.59pm on 30th August, 2023.

7Stars Foundation Accepting Applications for Second 2023 Funding Round
7Stars Foundation is offering grants of up to £2,500 for registered charities to deliver projects and activities that support young people aged 16 years and under across the priority themes of abuse, addiction, child carers, and homelessness.
The next deadline for applications is 31st August, 2023.

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) IMPACT Awards Open for 2024 Round
The GSK IMPACT Awards are an annual programme, funded by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) as part of the company's commitment to promote community health and wellbeing.
This year, up to 10 winners will receive £40,000, with one overall winner receiving an extra £10,000. Additionally, up to five runners-up will receive £4,000.
Small and medium charities can now apply and there is a two-stage application process.
The deadline for Stage One applications is 5pm on 1st September, 2023.
GSK IMPACT Award Details
Innovate UK Launches £6.2m Award to Fund Diverse Innovators
The Innovate UK (IUK) Unlocking Potential Award is a two strand pilot competition that aims to empower new innovators and businesses, in order to increase investment in diverse talent across the UK.
A total of £6.2 million will be invested through two competition strands:
- The Begin strand will provide £5,000 of grant funding, plus a living allowance of £10,000, and tailored business support.
- The Build strand includes £50,000 of grant funding and tailored business support.
The deadline for applications is 11am on 6th September, 2023.
Unlocking Potential Award Details
£40m Fund for Local Authorities to Drive 5G Innovation
The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) is leading the government's approach to driving innovation and unlocking opportunities for economic growth through making use of world-class digital infrastructure.
DSIT is inviting applications for local authorities across the UK to establish themselves as '5G Innovation Regions' (5GIRs).
The lead applicant must be a UK local authority. Applications from local authorities working together are encouraged.
A total of £40 million is available.
Applications must be submitted online by 11.59pm on 10th September, 2023.

£24m Fund to Clear Planning Application Backlogs and Address Skills Gaps
The Planning Skills Delivery Fund (PSDF) will provide £24 million over two years to local authorities to help with the implementation of the proposed reforms in the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill.
DLUC are providing funding for the improvement of development management services by clearing backlogs of planning applications, as well as funding for addressing planning skills gaps.
The eligibility criteria for each element of funding is as follows:
- Backlog funding.
- Skills funding.
A total of £24 million over two years is available for this fund.
Applications must be submitted by 11th September 2023.

Lloyds Bank Foundation Offering Local Collaboration
The latest programme of funding from Lloyd's Bank Foundation will support local collaborations led by small charities and offers grants of £100,000 over two years.
Grants can support a range of influencing activities such as research, policy development, analysis and activity at the local or regional level to engage decision-makers including local authorities, metro mayors, regional bodies, statutory agencies, housing associations, as well as the media and public.
The deadline to apply is 5pm on 22nd September, 2023.

TechX Clean Energy Accelerator Details
The £1.2 million TechX Clean Energy Accelerator aims to help innovative clean energy start-ups develop their technologies and grow their business.
The programme offers an intensive 15-week full-time experience, with benefits that include expert technology and business support, mentorship, prototype development, the opportunity for field trials with some of the largest companies in the energy industry and a £100,000 grant.
The application deadline for the next cohort is 11pm on 1st October, 2023.
TechX Clean Energy Accelerator Details
New Research Grants from Armed Forces Families Fund
The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust has launched a new grants programme which will support research projects to develop understanding of challenges that Armed Forces families can face, with a focus on:
- Educational attainment for Service pupils.
- Child welfare.
- The welfare needs of Service families.
Grants of up to £60,000 over 18 months are available to registered charities or UK-based universities.
Applications are accepted until 9am on 6th October, 2023.

Endangered Crafts Fund Reopens for Second 2023 Funding Round
Heritage Crafts Association is offering grants of between £500 and £2,000 to support crafts that are currently listed as endangered or critically endangered on the Red List of Endangered Crafts and provide opportunities for makers and trainees who wish to develop or share their skills in crafts that have been identified as being most at risk.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on 6th October, 2023.

£75m Cost of Living Fund Opens for Applications from Frontline Charities and VCSE Organisations
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the National Lottery Community Fund have launched the new £75 million Community Organisations Cost of Living Fund.
The funding is for frontline charities and voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations that are experiencing increased demand for critical services and increased costs in delivering them. The main priority is to fund organisations supporting low-income households and individuals.
The funding can be used to cover both project and core costs retrospectively from July 2023 until 31 March 2024.
The deadline for applications is noon on 16th October, 2023.
Cost of Living Fund Details
£500,000 for Projects to Tackle Electronic Waste and Support Digital Inclusion
The Time after Time e-waste Fund will support projects that aim to prevent e-waste by extending the life of small electrical items; that increase the recycling of e-waste; or that increase understanding of e-waste and reach new audiences.
This year, a total of £500,000 is available, with grants ranging in size from £25,000 to £100,000.
The 2023 round of the programme focuses on digital inclusion projects using smartphones, tablets and laptops.
Applications will be accepted from UK charities, academic bodies, Community Interest Companies, social enterprises, registered companies and local authorities.
The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 20th October, 2023.
Time after Time E-Waste Fund Details
Branching Out Fund Accepting Applications for the 2023 Winter Planting Season
The Tree Council is offering grants of between £250 and £2,500 for schools, constituted community groups and charities, community interest companies, Tree Warden networks, and other organisations to deliver tree-planting activities between the end of November 2023 and early February 2024.
Priority will be given to projects that utilise a wide variety of tree types. Funding is limited and groups are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
The deadline for applications is 3rd December, 2023.
Branching Out Fund Details
Neighbourhood Planning Grants and Support Programme
Local communities can apply now for grants and technical support to develop a neighbourhood plan or neighbourhood development this year (2023/24).
Town and parish councils, neighbourhood forums and prospective neighbourhood forums preparing a neighbourhood development plan or neighbourhood development order may apply for the following:
- A basic grant of between £1,000 and £10,000 for groups writing a neighbourhood plan or neighbourhood development order.
- An additional grant of up to £8,000 is available for groups facing more complex issues, giving a maximum total amount of £18,000.
- Specific packages of technical support where needed.
Expressions of Interest can be submitted at any time before March 2024.

NLCF Offering Grants to Strengthen Community Connections
A brand new funding programme, the UK Fund marks one of the first significant commitments from the National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF)'s new strategy, 'It starts with community'.
The grants are intended to develop and expand community links and funding £500,000 to £5 million will be available.
Constituted voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations, local authorities and partnerships can apply for this fund.
Before applying, groups must first register for and attend and information webinar.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis (from 4th August, 2023).
The UK Fund Details
New £6m Fund Offers Loan/Grant Package to Smaller Charities and Social Enterprises
The new £6 million Thrive Together Fund provides a funding package of loan (75%) and grant (25%) to eligible voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations.
The funding is intended to expand the reach of social investment to smaller organisations or those based in disadvantaged areas, targeting funding where it can be most effective at promoting equitable outcomes, and ensuring that any interventions enhance the social and economic capacity of a community.
The funding can be used for most purposes including, but not limited to:
- Purchasing an asset.
- Redeveloping/ refurbishing/ improving an asset.
- Continuing or growing a product or service.
Applications are currently being accepted. There are no deadlines.
Thrive Together Fund Details
Funding to Support Training In Ecclesiastical Heritage Skills
Through the Heritage Skills for Christian Buildings Grants Programme, groups can train individuals with apprenticeships, scholarships, and training courses in skills that are relevant to the maintenance and preservation of Christian buildings.
Funding can be used for both capital and revenue costs.
Grants can be used to support individuals for the duration of their training up to a maximum period of three years. All individuals supported through this programme should receive an accredited qualification at the end of their training that is recognised within the Heritage sector.
Applications can be made at any time.
Heritage Skills Grant Details
Funding to Support Summer Youth Services in Anti-Social Hotspots
The new Million Hours Fund is providing an initial £3 million for youth organisations to offer additional opportunities for young people to play sport, take part in arts and develop life skills this summer.
Provided by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport working with the National Lottery Community Fund's Awards For All programme, the funding forms part of the Government's Anti-Social Behaviour Action Plan, which aims to eradicate antisocial behaviour from local communities, and the Government's 'National Youth Guarantee', which will ensure every young person aged between 11 and 18 in England has access to regular clubs and activities, adventures away from home, and volunteering opportunities by 2025.
Grants of between £300 and £10,000 for up to one year are available.
Applications are currently being accepted through the National Lottery Community Fund's Awards for All programme.
Million Hours Fund Details
Homes England Launches £1bn Fund to Regenerate Brownfield Land
The primary objective of the Brownfield, Infrastructure and Land Fund is to bring forward strategic sites and housing-led opportunities which support economic growth and long-term housing supply, with at least 60% of activity focused on brownfield land - land that has been previously used and is now vacant, derelict and sometimes contaminated.
The fund supports the delivery of smaller, locally important sites, as well as larger-scale transformative projects of regional or national significance.
UK-registered corporate entities, limited liability partnerships (LLP), English local authorities, or public entities are eligible to apply.
Applicants should contact Homes England to consider project needs and agree the most appropriate delivery solution.
