This time last week I was sewing in a different state, after a last minute decision to visit Judy!
I like to go visit Judy at least once a year... and I was going to try to go on a road trip earlier in July... however, I was busy with work and family...
Last week I got told I didn't have one of my clients for a few days and I got a crazy thought that I could perhaps pack up and drive off into the sunset... to visit Judy
I told DH.. and he thought my crazy idea was quite a good one... so I messaged Judy... and guess what? She was just on her way home after having picked up the Fairy! So it seemed like it was perfect timing!
My Sewing Corner at Judy's
After having been to Judy's a few times now, I have my little sewing corner...
It always reminds me of that song we used to sing..."You in your small corner.. and I in mine..."
When I arrived I had to check out Judy's domain... Max was not working when I got there..
Other than holding fabric that Judy and the Fairy were putting into fabric packs for sale...
But later in the week Judy put Max to work:
I noticed that Judy had a LOT more new fabric than last time I was there I did kindly support the cause and relieve her of a bit of it...
Good thing I only go there once a year!
My Sewing at Judy's
I tried very hard not to bring everything with me this time.....! I know I always take too much, so this was my message to Judy:
Well.. I ended up bringing um.. er.. 4 projects............. and work.....
Work was sewing inserts for Sarah... and I was quite happy with how much I got done. I'm trying to get ahead a bit so that if I need some time off I will be able to...
And as for the 4 projects - I worked on two of them
I was mostly cutting and organizing....
The first project was Bee Vintage.. I got it all cut out and organized into zippy bags:
This is the first time I've cut all the pieces out for a quilt before.. it took me about 6 hours!!!! I am hoping it will make things easier later on!
I did a bit of sewing of the applique pieces:
This time I am doing it with the interfacing... let's see how I go with that.
The second project I started on was my birthday quilt:
I started cutting bits for that.. Both of these quilts have a lot of applique in them as you can see, and Lori has her Sew Simple Shapes for her quilts.. there are a lot of pieces and I can tell you, it is a pain in the neck to sort through them trying to find the piece you need...
After consulting with the Fairy, we agreed there had to be a better way and she decided to take charge of the Sew Simple Shapes for the Bee Vintage sewalong...
Our organization method for that quilt deserves a post of its own, so that will happen when I have a bit more time... but needless to say I felt quite honored that the Fairy was helping ME!!!! Judy graciously allowed her to do that one job for me before she cracked the whip again and got her back to what she should have been doing - lol!
As always Judy fed us beautiful food...
And it was so nice to catch up with both Judy and the Fairy...
Funny thing - Judy worked out that it was exactly a year ago when I was there last!
As usual time went by far too quickly and I also had to go home a day earlier because of work.. but it really was a lovely trip... now, will it be another year till I get to go back, or do you think I can sneak in an extra trip......? Let's see!
