Chaplain's chat 25/08/23
John 16:5-7 "But now I am going to Him who sent me, and none of you asks me 'where are you going?'. But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you."
The celebration of Pentecost is one of the significant days in the Christian calendar; as God again, gave Himself to us in the form of His Spirit, who is freely offered to everyone. Jesus' work on earth was finished, but God's full giving had just begun.
God is the Creator, Preserver and Governor of all things, and who is the only One worthy of our worship. He is a giving and forgiving God who loves and understands us. He created the world for us; He gave His Only Son to die for us: He then gave His Spirit, the Holy Spirit – to be with us always. What love that is!
John 14:12-14 "very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us Your Son to live amongst us and teach us Your ways. Thank You also for Your Spirit to help and guide us every day. Help us to continue growing in our relationship with You, through Your Holy Spirit. Continue to bless us I pray, in Jesus Name. Amen.
