Why do people sometimes tend to confuse spiritual activity with spiritual growth.
The Master Gardener {Our Lord and Our Friend} looks over the garden of our lives. He is not looking for activity to see spiritual work. He is looking for fruit as a sign of growth.
Colossians 1 Verse 10: "So that you may walk worthy of the Lord fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God."
2 Kings 22 Verse 15 to 20: The story of King Josiah illustrates this importantly. Josiah had not been following the law, he had never even heard the law. Yet as soon a the Scroll was discovered and read, Josiah humbles himself and repented.
God rewarded his right heart, even though it was not yet paired with right activity.
We often assume that if we are involved in right activities, then we are good people.
Spiritual activity is not bad, but it can be empty. If we ignore the activity in our lives, what fruit do we see?
Right activity flows from the heart. We can attend church and view it either as something we must do, or see it as a rich experience full of learning, fellowship and service.
The Master Gardiner wants to be our source of everything that will help us bear the lasting fruit in our lives, and and lasting fruit to use as a witness to a fallen world.
Let all grow in the Knowledge of Our Lord and Our Friend, so we can grow much more fruit for His Kingdom Purposes.
God Bless
OFJ
