Awake to righteousness.
1 Corinthians 15:34 "Awake to righteousness and do not sin…"
The Bible meaning of righteousness is the quality of being right in the eyes of
God, including character (nature), conscience (attitude), conduct (action), and
command (word). Righteousness is therefore, based on God's standard
because He is the ultimate lawgiver (Isaiah 33:22). ("For the Lord is our Judge,
the Lord is our Lawgiver; the Lord is our King; He will save us")
1 Corinthians 1 verse 30 tells us that we are righteous in Christ. "But of Him,
you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God – and
righteousness and sanctification and redemption".
2 Corinthians 5:21 "He (God) made Him who know no sin to be sin on our
behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him". Here we
have a double imputation. God imputed our sins to Christ Who knew no sin.
And God imputed His righteousness to us who had no righteousness of our
own.
Again in Romans 4 verse 5 "But to him who does not work but believes on Him
who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness". Verses 7
and 8 say "Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, And whose sins
are covered; Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute sin".
So let's 'awake to righteousness', keeping our eyes firmly fixed on our Lord and
Friend, who is the Author and Finisher of our faith. In Christ Jesus, we have
redemption, sanctification, and righteousness. Isaiah 54:14 "In righteousness
you shall be established – you shall be far from oppression – you shall not fear
– terror won't come near you".
Thank You Lord for Your amazing grace to us all.
