Faith triumphs in trouble
Romans 5:1-5 TLT "Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory. (3) We can now rejoice too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us – they help us learn to endure. And endurance develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation. And this expectation will not disappoint us. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love."
Tribulation (problems and trials) – Perseverance (endurance) (Grit) – Character – Hope (confident expectation of good).
Nobody likes problems and trials, but we all face them in this life. Our Lord and Friend told us that in this life we will have tribulations. John 16:33. Jesus said "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome this world". He forewarned us so that we could have peace.
The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 5, the benefits of faith, hope and joy, because as we face our trials with persevere, our character is strengthened, and we have hope (confident expectation) that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord.
Salvation – Greek word 'Sozo' – Strongs definition (#4982) means – to save i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively) KJV usage: heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (made) whole.
When verse 4 says 'our confident expectation of salvation' its speaking of the above – deliverance, healing, protection, preservation and being made whole.
Therefore as we face various problems, let's encourage one another, knowing that the Holy Spirit is given to us to fill our hearts with His love and strengthen us daily.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him.
