Registration session
The registration session for the Business Admin course will be held on Friday 29th September 2023 at 10.00am at Cavendish Court Job Centre, 9 Bank St, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield, S1 2DR.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the course you need to be aged 18+, live in Sheffield, be unemployed and not in full-time education, and have the right to work in the UK.
You will need to bring one form of ID and any proof of benefits you might be on. This can be your Universal Credit account statement on your phone/online or a printout or a share code.
The Course
The course will start on Monday 2nd October at St Mary's Church, Bramall Lane, Sheffield, S2 4QZ from 9.30am - 3.30pm.
You will complete 10 days of classroom-based training, followed by two weeks of work experience in the sector. Work placements will start shortly after. The sector routeways team will then support you to find work afterwards.
Participants will cover:
- Introduction to Business Administration roles in the Sheffield area, supporting participants to understand the roles available and the skills that prospective employers are looking for.
- The essential skills of Business Administration, such as key Microsoft programmes, emailing processes, digital data storage, GDPR, managing multiple digital calendars, video and conference calling, Essential Digital Skills qualifications, note taking and minutes.
- The importance of clear communication and how to communicate effectively
- The most viable methods of using e-mail for business purposes
- Support participants to develop employability skills resulting in greater awareness and the ability to identify and articulate their skills through the use of the Skills Builder universal framework, Benchmark and Launchpad platforms, in collaboration with the programme Development Manager
- Creation of a CV tailored to the roles being recruited to in Sheffield
- Interview skills development
- Employer interactions/site visits
- Portfolio development
- Team building and problem solving
