Your Talent is God's gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.
Mathew 25 verse 14 to 30: "The Parable of the Talents".
This is a story ab out the Kingdom of God. The three servants were called together, to explain the owner of the business in which they worked/served was going away.
Much could have been the response from the servants, like.
Oh good the old man is going away.
Or: Oh good, we will be free to do what we want around here.
Or perhaps: He is a good boss, we will miss him, sure hope he hurries back.
With three different people, there could have been many thoughts and opinions about the man's long tip away.
But the Parable is more about being ready for Our Lord's return, and our abilities we can put into action, to share the truth of His return.
Matthew 25 verse 15: The talents represent opportunities to use our abilities
To one he gave five talents, to another he gave two talents, and to another one talent.
The servant who was given the five talents, put them to work and earned five more.
The servant who was given two talents, in the same way as the first, put them to work and earned two more.
The servant who was given one talent, didn't do anything at all with his talent, but dug a hole to hide it.
Differences between people, we were all created with the same abilities, because we were created in the image of God. But most people are governed by their attitudes on how they use their abilities. Without a Godly attitude, the talents we have been given, will never be used to the best of one's abilities to bring glory to Him.
If the five talents were given to each person, and they had minimal attitude to use their talents, they would have been burdened by the heaviness of responsibility. Likewise if one talent had been given, to a person with a godly attitude, they would make the best of what they received, but the best of their abilities would be wanting more to do.
Our Lord and Our Friend assigns us all talent to be used for His Glory, how we use them depends on our attitude. Between verses 18 and 19 there is a time period. We were born for such a time as this, how we use the talents He has given us, will reflect the Love and thankfulness, we have towards Him.
The talents or gifts given to us are, are to be used, not to be abuse or hidden.
God Bless.
OFJ.
