When it's good
Introducing new people to your world can be tricky. Generally, they come through natural interactions. I have reconnected with a friend I worked with for two years in an Awana program. We kept in touch the first year after but we have not seen each other in the last two years other than the one random baseball game where she came and sat with me on the sidelines and our kids played like they always had. Overall, I am grateful to reconnect with her. She is a spirit connection for sure.
I have three new people who will become part of my regular routine within a months' time and it is making me a little anxious. We opened up the partition wall in the office. What a change! It looks so different but the purpose is to bring in another position. We have an entire F&B segment to the admin area now. Most of this is superficial. People frustrated because they have to be moved or sharing their opinions about who should go where. The big part for me is the new personalities and how it will all come together long term.
First, I have hired a new bookkeeper. She is older and seems kind but she will be a new dynamic to our current group. She starts early next month. A week later, I get a brand new boss. Big personality but I have not met him yet. I feel like the unknown of not meeting him makes everything so much more intense and that is where my anxiety flares. Next to join the team is communications. We are looking at a couple of people. One is super young but delightful. How will all these personalities mesh?
Being a boss to new people while having a new boss is just a lot in motion at the same time. It is like rowing a boat with a brand new type of Orr and an unknown crew.
The functionality is completely unknown but I am hopeful we will weather these storms beautifully.
