Successful Christian Living – Pointers
Acts 17 verse 28 "For in Him we live and move and have our being".
John 15:5 "I am the vine, and you are the branches. He that abides in Me and I in him, the same shall bring forth much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing".
Put God's Word first. Christianity is a day-by-day, step-by-step growing up into Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit – not by our own efforts.
Rely on the Holy Spirit. We can do nothing our of our own strength. Our Lord and Friend sent the Holy Spirit to be our Helper, Teacher, Guide, Comforter, Strengthener, Advocate and Friend. He is the Spirit of Truth and Revelation. We can ask Him to help us understand the Word when we read or study. Ask Him to help us when we pray. (Romans 8:26-27). The sons of God are led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14) . We learn to lean daily on Him.
Don't be discouraged when you fail. Everyone makes mistakes. We are all growing in God and He has great patience and love for us.
Stay teachable. We never know it all. Neither can we do things in our own strength. Stay open to the promptings and teaching of the Holy Spirit.
Be a fruit bearer. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you develop the fruit of the Spirit in you (Galatians 5:22-23). Just as a baby has everything it needs to become a mature person, so we as a born-again believer have everything we need to grow, provided by our Lord Jesus Christ. We don't just suddenly develop love and patience, for example, but as we feed on the Word and apply it to our lives, the Holy Spirit and the power of the Word will cause us to grow into maturity.
Remember, you are important to God. He has known you from before you were born (Psalm 139). He planned for you to be born at a specific time and in a specific place. He has a definite plan and purpose for you. He loves and cares for you.
May the God of peace, Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He Who calls you is faithful, Who will also do it. (1 Thess 5:23,24)
Blessings
