MY JOURNEY TO FERTILITY: THE AFTERMATH

Date: 3rd May 2023

One minute: I looked at the strip as it started changing colour.

Two minutes: One distinct line appeared. I picked up the instructions again just to make sure. One line in the "C" section means negative.

Three minutes: Maybe the second line will come in.

Four minutes: My friend had a faint second line. Maybe I need to check for that.

Five minutes: There's no second line. The test remains negative.

I picked up my phone and sent Kevin the following message with the words "not pregnant" along with a picture of the result.

I stared at the test a little more, willing it to somehow change, but it didn't.

The tears welled in my eyes and I swallowed hard.

I repeated to myself:

My body is not betraying me.

It takes healthy couples up to a year to conceive.

We started a year earlier than planned.

But even saying those words doesn't make me feel any better.
