My daughter is my "Go To Person" for assistance with Pages on Apple. I have the unique ability to lose text and she figures out a way to recover it. I reached out to her late Wednesday evening with three short taps – followed by three long taps – followed by three short taps. It was an SOS call requesting help. I was in distress. You probably knew that from my attempt at Morse Code.
When I emailed the document to her, she responded: "Dad – Who do you think is going to read a 17-page newsletter?" It was a rhetorical question, and she didn't expect an answer. She expected me to pass-on sending the communication. Long-story-short, the information I was sharing needed to be included.
Being stubborn isn't a spiritual gift and pouting doesn't get me a lot of mileage. The General has told me more than once that my tombstone will read: "He did it his way." Andrea sent me the corrected document. I almost wrote "begrudgingly" sent me, but that may be a misperception. On the other hand…
After getting to document back in my possession, I thought of other information including pictures that needed to be included. It never occurred to me that the file would be too big to email.
It was late last night when I made that discovery. Somehow during the night as I pondered the impossibility, it occurred to me to remove the pictures of award winners and send the pictures separately.
I negotiated revising the document this morning into part one and part two. I breathed a sigh of relief when I was able to attach part one of the report this morning. I patted myself on the back and hit the send button. The send button failed to activate. The pictureless document is sitting idly on my computer.
It is too early in the morning to send three short taps – followed by three long taps – followed by three short taps. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but at least I have enough sense to find a different "Go To Person" to help with this one.
The General just asked me to go with her to the grocery store. Explaining my plight and need to get this newsletter out fell on deaf ears. Somehow this day isn't getting off to a good start.
All My Best!
Don
