We have two big back-to-back trips that must occur so we are closing things a bit earlier than the norm. Yesterday, I completed the weekly deep clean. I pondered what I would find at the rental after the tenants moved out. I know they are going to leave us a mess. I have gotten good at getting the house cleaned out and ready for the next tenant. I take before and after pictures of each tenant. People are slovenly. I have learned no one is going to have my level of housekeeping, however, I have a cleaning list that I expect the tenant to do in order to have the security deposit returned. These are the things I think about as I am cleaning the house. No one ever returns the house to us nice. The windows are weird to get curtains and rods for, so I sew nice curtains. I had a kitchen table built into the space with nice cushioned benches. I put a tablecloth on it with fresh flowers for each new tenant. I have found that most tenants lie. We have a running joke as a family, when are tenants telling the truth? When their lips aren't moving.
We have had an abundant harvest this year, we lost some of our zucchini, cucumber, and pumpkin harvest due to squash bugs. We do not use pesticides. My husband decided to veto the marigolds in that area and we had issues with bug invasion.
I canned another 60 jars of tomatoes yesterday. I may have another 60 by the end of it.
The chickens are laying eggs like crazy. I offered the eggs to my neighbor to gather while we were gone.
We are working through the big homeschooling projects that will be hard to do on the road.
