| Homemaking in the Dunes Nov 25 | We really believe in going beyond "survey" education when we instruct our highschoolers. Their World History text nibbled at this historical turn for the creation of Israel with two sentences. I ordered the book for them. It was the book that was on or breakfast table when we met a Rabbi at our hotel. This is one of the reasons I love teaching on the road, we meet people who add to the teaching process. He looked at me puzzled, "Have you read this book?" I told him I had and our kids were a quarter into it. ( I have also read Defending Israel.) We had a discussion as to why I have been reading these books even before I was homeschooling, I love political science. This essay was revolutionary in it's time, as Theodor Herzel was the father of the Zionist movement. Theodor sets the stage for the Jewish people to have a national identity. He was pleading for the surivival of his people. The bottom line is that Herzl didn't want to the Jewishe divided between Zionism and Socialism. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
