When I was growing up we did not have electricity or running water. But the Lord provided us with food from the land and the love in His word my mother read to us. As I grew I became a bit rebellious and rowdy. And still God watched over me protecting me and keeping me safe.
Yes, I learned early life is real. It has bruises and blemishes, scars and sores. It is not always sunshine and buttercups.
You may think that by now people would understand that life is life and it is real. But…. It seems some people feel they are entitled to a "perfect" life.
Some people watch television or the internet and see people portraying what they think is an idealistic lifestyle.
But life is real. We can't compare ourselves to television or the internet... we will likely never measure up. Instead, let's find joy in the imperfection of what we have... each other. It is those slight imperfections that make our lives perfect.
It took me several years to realize that I have always had a great life... every morning... no matter the circumstances. I have always been short of funds, usually living paycheck to paycheck just barely getting by. But as I look back over my life God was always there. Even when I wasn't so faithful, He provided and cared for my family and I.
Now each morning I thank the Lord for the coffee, and most especially for those in my life that are my brothers and sister I call my family. I love them in their perfect imperfection… and I am especially grateful that they still love me despite my imperfections.
Understand that the only perfections we have are in our imperfections.
Remember friends... Life is not a fairy tale. It is simply life. The best part of waking up is knowing Jesus lives... beyond that, there will never be perfection.
