Don't let anyone mirror their insecurities on you
People really need to try and get perspective on issues they are supposedly trying to fix.
You are talking to me about scolding my child and you think my biggest fear is them loving their dad more than me.
Fact is I will politely let you finish speaking, even thank you profusely as a good Yoruba girl and still scold them how I deem fit.
I have never gone out of my way to be liked, but I have and would always be truthful in my action, lead by example and stand for issues I believe him and most importantly not use norms to decide on anything.
My peace is number one and overrides norms, my children knowing I did my best for them is enough regardless of decisions they later make for themselves.
But if you think I am afraid that my son would look at me and think mummy hates me .... perish the thought.... If that's your fear as a parent, you are definitely not doing a good job.
If you are parenting the best way you can, you would want to see your kids going out into the big bad world and slaying giants while standing tall.
Worrying about your children going out into the world is a reason for you to review your parenting, and see if you can still mould that child to win against the world
