Matthew 8 Verse 7: "Jesus said, 'I will come and heal him'.
The Roman officer probably was a centurion, one who had charge over one hundred men. Every centurion mentioned in the Gospels and Acts was a gentleman pf high character and sense of duty, and this man was no exception, indicated by his concern for a lowly servant boy.
Everything about this officer should have prevented him from coming to Jesus. He was a professional soldier, and Jesus was a man of peace.
He was a gentile, and Jesus was a Jew. But his soldier had one thing working for him.
He was a man of great faith. The officer understood that Jesus, like himself had authority and was under authority.
All Christ had to do was speak the Word, and the disease would obey Him the way a soldier obeyed his officer.
Twice in the Gospels Jesus was amazed by faith {Luke 7 Verse 9}:
"Jesus heard this and was amazed at Him, He said 'I tell you, I have not found so great a faith even in Israel".
Faith is a Substance that if we truly believe we will see miracles. Hebrews 11 Verse 6:
"Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him".
God Bless.
