Chaplain's Chat
Philippians chapter 4 vs 6 & 8 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Worry can be a very debilitating emotion. We worry about our partners, children, family, our jobs, our finances and our health. We even worry about running out of time, and whether we have made a right decision. You know, sometimes the things we worry about never eventuate.
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths."
Matthew 6:25 & 34 "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing. Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
We have absolutely nothing to worry about, or be anxious about while the God of love, Creator of the universe, is in control of our lives. The problems seem to arise when we take the control away from God, and think we can do a better job. His way is best, even when we don't think it is. sometimes I struggle with handing things over to Him. How about your?
Dear Heavenly Father, when floods of disappointment, waves of doubt, and clouds of worry crowded in on us, help us to remember that we are not alone. You can give us your peace through the storms of life. So Lord, please help us to hand those things over to you, and trust you with everything in our life, especially the things that concern us and cause us to be anxious. In Jesus Name I pray. AMEN
